About the Gallery
Travesía Cuatro was founded in Madrid in 2003 by Silvia Ortiz and Inés López-Quesada as a gallery for emerging and mid-career international artists. In recent years, the gallery has focused on building a bridge between Latin-American and European art scenes. Since 2004, the gallery has regularly organized group shows in which international artists have been invited to exhibit alongside those represented by the gallery, including "El que camina al lado," curated by Luiza Teixeira de Freitas and Claudia Segura; "Del Buen Salvaje al Conceptual Revolucionario," curated by Pablo León de la Barra; and "Love or the Lack of It," curated by Friedrich Kunath. In November 2013, Travesía Cuatro opened a second space in Guadalajara, Mexico, in the Casa Franco, designed by architect Luis Barragán in 1929. The gallery expanded to Mexico in order to keep its fingers on the pulse of change, to incorporate new artists into the gallery program, and to support the careers of existing gallery artists, such as the three Guadalajara artists—Jose Dávila, Gonzalo Lebrija, and Jorge Méndez Blake_who have been part of the gallery since it opened.
