About the Performer
Audrey Cottin grew up in the suburbs of Paris, in a place that was a collection of people and stories from everywhere. Her art practice takes the form of extensive multidisciplinary collaborations (co-working). It is in the company of individuals who keep this world as a continuous creative experiment (artists, curators, scientists, doctors, gardeners, amateurs, curious etc.) that Cottin explores and informs her art pieces. From sculpture, performance to participation, the art works are often challenging the individual and group cognitive behaviour. She has been developing long-term researches on two old fashion concepts : the gesture of ‘‘Clapping’’ (2009) and the early 19th century educational setting ‘‘Operating Theatre’’ which was first launched at the 2013 Biennial do Mercosul, and followed it’s course at the Pompidou Center and S.M.A.K. museums. Audrey lives and works in Brussels. Her work is represented by Galerie Tatjana Pieters, (Ghent - Belgium).
