About the Gallery
Weinstein Gallery was established in San Francisco in 1992, specializing in non-objective and surrealist art from pre-war Europe, through the New York School, and Abstract Expressionism. The gallery represents the estates of Rudolf Bauer and Juanita Guccione and is recognized for its commitment to the women of the surrealist movement with an extensive collection of Leonor Fini and signature works by Leonora Carrington, Kay Sage, Stella Snead, Remedios Varo, and Dorothea Tanning.

In Summer 2025, the gallery opened a space in Los Angeles to launch its engagement with contemporary art and multidisciplinary programming. This new venture fosters connections between Weinstein Gallery’s art historical commitments and the visual culture of the present day. Weinstein Gallery LA aims to be a community-oriented space enlivened by Los Angeles’ vibrant arts ecosystem.

Since its inception, the gallery has been dedicated to rediscovering many important artists who have been understudied in art history and whose contributions deserve renewed scholarship and attention. Among them are Enrico Donati, Jimmy Ernst, Gordon Onslow Ford, Gerome Kamrowski, and Kurt Seligmann. The legacies of these artists are supported by the gallery’s carefully curated exhibitions and scholarly publications, as well as numerous loans to museums and public institutions.

Weinstein Gallery was founded by Rowland Weinstein on the basic belief that art should be accessible to everyone, not intimidating and exclusive, but inviting and engaging. Through its programming, Weinstein Gallery is committed to sharing the transformative power of art through reflection and connection.
