About the Gallery
The Gallery of Everything is a commercial space for non-academic artists, private artmakers, and other alternative creators.
An initiative of the Museum of Everything, the gallery engages with a wide network of institutions, artists, and curators to place material into major private and public collections. The gallery's roster includes known historical master artists, as well as newly discovered authors. Events include group and solo exhibitions, talks, readings, and happenings.
Proceeds from the Gallery of Everything help support the Museum of Everything, a registered UK charity and non-profit organisation, dedicated to the advancement, integration, and celebration of artists and makers beyond the cultural mainstream.
About the Presentation
At Independent, The Gallery of Everything presents The Collector’s Hoarde, an expansive assembly of self-taught material from a curated selection of offbeat and marginal makers.
Presented within the context of a fictional New York apartment, the installation comprises drawings, paintings, sculptures and effigies by African, European, American and Brazilian visionaries, alongside anonymous works, found objects and what can only be described as high-end bric-a-brac.
Highlights include architectures by the late French auteur ACM, figurative clay totems by acclaimed Senegalese craftswoman Seyni Awa Camara, declamatory signage by the Reverend(s) Jesse Howard, Benjamin Franklin Perkins and Joel D Hewlett, and other pieces reflecting the variety of a voracious Manhattan wallscape.
The Collector’s Hoarde occupies a sprawling penthouse on the fourth floor of Spring Studios in Tribeca, gazing down upon the fair as it celebrates the many die-hards, for whom the flea market find and the exotic assemblage stand proud alongside the bluest of uptown chips.
Prices range from $5 to $50,000.
