About the Gallery
Founded in September of 2016 by Sara Maria Salamone and Tyler Lafreniere, Mrs. is a contemporary art gallery in Maspeth, Queens. Located away from the geographic center of the New York art world, the gallery focuses on offering a new platform for emerging, under represented and mid career artists, while engaging the surrounding community.

About the presentation
Mrs. will dedicate a solo presentation to Elizabeth Atterbury. History, memory, and imagination conspire in generating abstract personal iconographies in the artist’s fluid studio practice. Moving between picture-making and object-making, Atterbury appropriates existing forms and transfigures materials. She is fascinated with the autonomy of the artifact: objects dissociated from their original function and context. Her sculptural works are at once allegorical expressions and props for a still-life, often reliant on precarious materials such as paper and sand. Her wall works are puzzled together, their carved glyphs recomposed as one complete narrative.
