About the Gallery
Established in Cologne in 2013, Jan Kaps is a contemporary gallery exhibiting the work of emerging artists. Engaging with the city's history as a hub for modern and contemporary art, the gallery introduces a new generation of international artists to the Cologne art scene. The gallery opened with a exhibition of works by the American artist Grayson Revoir, the artist's first solo show in Germany. It has since presented critically acclaimed solo and group exhibitions featuring artists such as Tobias Spichtig, Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel, Sven Loven, Peppi Bottrop, Jessie Stead, and Mark von Schlegell, including the German debuts for Jean-Marie Appriou and Violet Dennison. In 2016, the gallery presented the first European exhibition for the California conceptual painter Gene Beery, comprising works from the 1960s to the present. Jan Kaps is also one of the founders and organizers of Okey Dokey, an international gallery share program established in Cologne and Düsseldorf in 2017.
