About the Gallery
GRIMM represents over thirty international artists with locations in Amsterdam (NL), New York (US), and London (UK). Since its establishment in 2005, it has been the gallery’s mission to represent and support the work of emerging and mid-career artists. 

About the Presentation
For its Independent debut GRIMM will exhibit paintings by Matthias Franz in conversation with sculptures by Lucy Skaer. Fragmentation is both a conceptual and pictorial framework in Franz’s paintings, which explore the inherent contradictions of modern life. His melancholic interiors, rendered with muted earth tones and uncanny perspectives, present a beautiful resonance with Skaer’s recent sculptures, which incorporate elements from her parental home. Throughout her multimedia practice Skaer reinterprets imagery and objects from diverse contexts and histories, working to transform or disrupt their material and metaphorical origins.
