About the Gallery
Located in the heart of Athens, in the historic Polytechnio neighborhood, George Benias Gallery is a contemporary art space committed to presenting bold, relevant and culturally sharp work by emerging and established artists from Greece and abroad.

Founded by George Benias, former partner of the Allouche Benias Gallery, this new initiative builds on a deep passion for contemporary art and a commitment to supporting artists with strong, original voices. The gallery aims to create a dynamic space for dialogue, experimentation and cultural exchange, fostering connections between artists, collectors, curators and the wider public.

The gallery seeks to be both a local and international hub, engaging with the evolving discourse of contemporary art while honoring the cultural heritage of its surroundings.

About the Presentation
George Benias Gallery will present work by Clinton King in a solo presentation at Independent. Clinton King was born in 1976 in Coshocton, Ohio, and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He holds a BFA in painting from Columbus College of Art and Design and an MFA in sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. King’s practice centers on oil-on-linen paintings that explore the material and perceptual limits of the medium through a minimalist approach, distilling each work to essential brushstrokes that build complex, dynamic patterns. His process, rooted in “strategic spontaneity,” layers charged marks into a dialogue of order and disorder, translating inner experiences into tangible forms. Fascinated by the information a single stroke can hold, King’s intuitive method invites viewers into a suspended moment of realization, where projection and transformation emerge from the interplay of vivid hues and sparse compositions. Works like Dead Heat and Grounded Phosphene range from dense, overlapping strokes to airy, diaphanous fields, pushing abstraction into new visual territories. King’s recent exhibitions showcase his evolving abstract lexicon, blending mythological resonance with mathematical precision. Working across painting, sculpture, and video, he has been awarded residencies in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
