About the Gallery
Founded in August 2006, Galerie Christian Lethert pursues a clear concept of reduced and abstract positions in Contemporary Art, referring to painting, sculpture and photography. Besides working with an internationally established generation of artists like Imi Knoebel or Jill Baroff, Galerie Christian Lethert also focuses on fine and distinguished, contemporary European positions such as Rana Begum, Daniel Lergon or Gereon Krebber. Five to six times a year the gallery presents interesting single and group exhibitions, combined with a supporting program of lectures and controversy. From 1997 to 2006 Christian Lethert (born in 1981) assisted at Galerie Klein in Bad Münstereifel (formerly in Bonn). Having coached a multitude of exhibitions in the gallery and presentations on international art fairs, Christian Lethert became familiar with both classical positions of the 1960s and 1970s and contemporary art trends. In 2004 he assisted at Griffin Contemporary in Los Angeles where he curated exhibitions with Joseph Beuys and Richard Tuttle. While opening his own gallery space in Cologne in August 2006 Christian Lethert also graduated in business administration with a thesis about business start-up in art market. Since May 2007 Christian Lethert has been on the board of directors of the German gallery alliance (BVDG).
