Founded in 2010, Cristin Tierney Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located on The Bowery with a deep commitment to the presentation, development and support of a roster of both established and emerging artists. Its program emphasizes artists engaged with critical theory and art history, with an emphasis on conceptual, video, and performance art. Education and audience engagement is central to our mission. 

About the Presentation
Cristin Tierney Gallery will present work by Judy Pfaff in a solo presentation at Independent. Highly influential and renowned for her site-specific installations, Judy Pfaff’s work spans five decades across the disciplines of painting, printmaking, sculpture and installation. Balancing intense planning with improvisational decision-making, she creates exuberant, sprawling artworks that weave landscape, architecture, and color into a tense yet organic whole. This presentation anticipates Pfaff’s fall exhibition in the gallery’s new Tribeca space and argues for her repositioning as a central figure in the narratives of sculpture, installation, and the broader history of contemporary art.
