About the Project
Boot Foundation is a research based outfit started in 2020 that vacillates between making merchandise for events or places that never had any or resurrecting ideas and imagery from music subculture to the artworld and making them more accessible.
About the Presentation
Boot Foundation will make its art fair debut with a limited presentation of bootleg tees on music subcultures and artistic movements. We will also be presenting artworks by Jonathan Monk, Joe Horner, Eric Doeringer and ZERØX that aligns with our mission of the artist’s bootlegs. Our presentation is particularly focused on the question of what is the artist bootleg? Rather than appropriate, where “this is mine”, bootleg works extend the concept of the original artist adding another layer to the initial conversation while also making the works more accessible, in other words, “This is not mine, this is theirs, and…”.
