About the Gallery
Allouche Benias Gallery is located in Kolonaki and it is housed in the mesmerizing reinstituted 1882 Deligeorgis Mansion. This gallery has left a mark in the domestic art world since it was established in 2018. The gallery exhibits a few shows annually with contemporary artworks in all range of media by national and international artists.

About the presentation
Allouche Benias presents tapestries by the Seoul-born, New York-based artist Kim Westfall. Resembling gestural painting and drawing, her technique intricately weaves organza ribbon, cotton, and wool yarns in a dance between the physical and the emotional. Through the tactile process of layering, pleating, and tufting, Westfall’s recent works portray ethereal figures in British navy sailor uniforms, symbolizing the enduring relevance of this attire in Korean history and transcultural contexts. Exploring the complex realities of history, national identity, family, feminine ideals and self-actualization, Westfall establishes a critical tension between the hobbyist associations of textiles and the often political and psychologically-charged subject matter of her work.
