About the Gallery
Since 1983, Tilton Gallery has been known for discovering and promoting cutting edge, emerging artists from around the world. Over four decades, Tilton has introduced hundreds of new artists to the contemporary art world.  Many of these artists, given their first gallery shows by Tilton, have become prominent figures on the international stage. These include the artists Marlene Dumas, David Hammons, Nicole Eisenman, Noah Davis, Simone Leigh, Glenn Ligon, Lyle Ashton Harris, Fred Tomaselli, Huang Yong Ping, Francis Alÿs, and Derrick Adams, to name a few.

Tilton Gallery has regularly supplemented its contemporary program with historical exhibitions that incorporate current artists within a historical framework. Tilton Gallery has also published catalogues accompanying artist exhibitions throughout its history.

Housed in a historic landmark Upper East side townhouse, the gallery’s current multicultural exhibition program continues to support our established gallery artists and remains committed to the discovery and nurturing of new talent.
